About
Food In The Fort is a labor of love shared by Catherine and Leo, a couple living in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Most posts here, despite the individual author credits, are collaboratively written or at least benefit from a generous helping of loving critique from both parties. We write FITF for many reasons, but mainly to have fun writing and cooking together, expose our obsession with all things culinary to the public eye, and highlight some of our favorite places around town.
Catherine teaches Latin to fund her explorations of the cultures and foods of all ethnicities. Leo balances Catherine’s Classical roots with his deep and arcane knowledge of science and technology but knows a good meal when he tastes it. They hope to use their culinary superpowers for good and not evil while providing a little bit of fancy and philosophy along the way.
Life-long social progressives, their culinary practices mirror their politics. People needn’t fear flavor, should revel in diversity whether it be ingredients or techniques, support and cherish their local groceries and eateries, left-overs are to be embraced, all foods are created equal (i.e. a little meat or cream won’t hurt you). Above all, they believe people should overthrow the tyranny of the recipe and just get on to having fun in the kitchen.
